Groundhog sees shadow (what else is new?)

Another groundhog day and Phil predictably saw his shadow so 6 more weeks of winter. If the weather continues in this warm trend we won’t mind six more weeks.

Living in Pennsylvania we are very familiar with the Punxatauwny ritual that takes place every February 2nd. One time my sisters even ventured to Gobbler’s Knob to observe the festivities. It was a cold morning and they observed that there was a lot of drinking going on there and very large crowds.
This is also a sad day for our family. It was five years ago today that we lost my father. He fell down some stairs at my sister’s house and cracked his skull . He did not survive the injury and we spent three weeks traveling to the Roanoke hospital back and forth each day.
My father was an amazing man and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him.
