Always an adventure

I can always know that when Chris I here that he will take us on an adventure yesterday we decided to go to Watkins Glen, about two hours from home. It is famous for its natural waterfalls.

Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge.

Unfortunately I have been having trouble with my hips and Don has COPD so we couldn't walk the 800 steep steps up into the gorge. But we certainly enjoyed this lovely area of the Finger Lakes.

But on the way we passed a museum. The Glenn Curtis Museum. He was the father of naval aviation. We stopped their and had an enjoyable time viewing some of the very first airplanes, motorcycles and boats and learned a lot about aviation.

We didn't arrive home until eleven o'clock. Today we are spending the day at red House Lake in nearby Allegany State Park canoeing, kayaking and picnicking.
