Here Comes Summer

Can't you hear a Beach Boys' song playing in the background? Here comes summer. They say it doesn't officially start until the middle of June but here in Bradford we celebrate it as soon as it warms up and the leaves come out. Being a teacher summer always meant a more relaxing time. It has always been a time for fun and joy.

Here in western Pennsylvania we are a long way from a beach. We did spend a week in Wildwood NJ one summer a long time ago but we wouldn't ever consider us beach people. We do have a large lake within twenty minutes of us and we have always had a boat.

Summer is also a time for getting away from here. Our vacations mostly involve visiting family down South but occasionally we take trips. I get itchy to go and have an adventure in the summertime.

And nothing is better than summer right here in my own backyard. A little fire in the fire pit and roasting marshmallows is always a good time.

Do you have plans for this summer?

  1. Actually, not really. We just don't travel, any more. But we have lovely memories of when we did.

Our travel was in early autumn.

  2. New blog look here. A summer look now.

But..... What is that black and white extension, to the far right????? Do you really want it to be there?

A music play list maybe? But I never listen to blog music.

And really, it's a kind of ugly black and white strip. Messes with the otherwise pretty blog look....

    Just asking...

  4. Oh yes, Peggy, I have plans. We'll be on the go a lot. In a week my niece who teaches is Surabaya, Indonesia is coming for a visit. We have a number of fun things planned. Then we're driving to Seattle to embark on a cruise through the Inside Passage to Alaska and then inland by train to Denali. A dream trip bucket item! Then we're going to stay in the dorms at the University of Victoria and explore Vancouver Island. Then we'll drive back to Denver via Calgary where we'll see some of the family. then I'm going to turn right around and go to Nova Scotia for a couple of weeks. Then home to Denver for a quick turnaround to go to Washington DC for our niece's wedding. This is why I don't even have a potted plant! I'm really excited, but a little daunted too. We'll see how I manage! Your lovely and restful backyard is looking very appealing!
