Is there anything that tastes better?

One thing about summer is that you can eat food that has just come from the garden. Nothing tastes better than making a meal that a few hours before was growing out of the ground. Being a farmer or gardener takes a special talent and love. You have to put love into it when you plant a seed or put a small plant into the ground and nurture it. It takes patience to wait for months knowing that the results would be worth it. My father was like that. I always remember his yearly gardens..the plowing, planting and watering...then finally the harvest. His pride when he brought the freshly picked cucumbers or tomatoes into the house. My son is just like that. His garden is beautiful with tomato plants taller than my head.

Fresh ingredients taste entirely different than the ones you buy in the store. Our meal was stuffed peppers with green peppers that were so very sweet. The zucchini and yellow squash were dipped in egg, breadcrumbs and fried so warm and soft. The sautéed cabbage added to the meal. Everything from the garden.

  1. Your picture is like a Cezanne painting! Isn't it great that your son loves to garden like his grandfather? My father was like that too.

Those cucumbers and bell peppers look wonderful!
