THE HAPPIEST SEASON

The question, "Which is the happiest season of life?" was asked of an aged man.
And he replied: "When spring comes, and in the soft air the buds are breaking
on the trees, and they are covered with blossoms, I think, 'How beautiful is spring'; and when summer comes and covers the trees with its heavy foliage, and singing birds are among the branches, I think, 'How beautiful is summer.'  When autumn loads them with golden fruit, and their leaves bear the gorgeous tint of frost, I think, 'How beautiful is autumn.'  And when it is severe winter, and there is neither foliage nor fruit, then I look up through the leafless branches as I never could until now, and see the stars shine in God's home.

When I first started this blog in 2006 I had to choose a name for it. I chose Season to Season because where I live in western Pennsylvania there is a definite beginning and end to each season. And through the years the time passes as does the seasons. And it related to the seasons of my life.

Embrace this season of life, for it is just that….a season.”

Fall has always been my favorite. September to me was like January is to everyone else. It was when school started. I loved going into my classroom as few weeks before the first day to settle my room and get myself into the teaching mode again after a summer of activity. I love the fall smells and colors, the textures of sweaters, the hot apple cider.

IMG_6689The trees in my backyard are just beginning to show their colors. I would always tell my students about chlorophyll and how in the Autumn the trees showed their true colors that were hidden by green in the summer. It is a spectacular season..all too fleeting. What fall activities do you have planned? Do you have a fall bucket list? Some must do things?

  1. I love fall. It is my favorite season. Spring and summer have their beauty but the romance of autumn, the beginning of a new year is to me irresistible.

  3. Fall is my favorite season when it's fall. Then winter becomes my favorite, followed by my favorite spring and summer. LOL September always feels like the start of the new year. Happy New Year to you, Peggy. Sending you a big hug!
