See those two large trees hovering above the garage? Last year we decided that they were just too tall and posed a threat to the new addition that we put on in the back. Today the tree men are here and they are going down.

I know the above might not look like anything to some..but to me it is entering a new realm. Always in my life I have had lots of stuff. Every cupboard, closet, drawer, and space in my small ranch house was full and overflowing. I didn't throw a lot of things out and kept buying resulting in an accumulation of items everywhere. Gradually I have been organizing my spaces and this week it was the kitchen cupboards that got the treatment. It started with a hint that I read on the web....using peel and stick floor tiles to line your kitchen cupboards. So I bought a pack. I didn't realize that I had so many cupboards until I began the process of measuring and cutting the tiles, taking everything out of the cupboard then putting it all back. As I did I edited some things. It really wasn't too bad because I have been organizing the kitchen for quite a while and things weren't that much of a mess. But I did get two small bags ready to take to the Goodwill (they are in my car..that is the secret...get them out of the house.) My worse cupboard has always been the tupperware/storage container cupboard. But with the advent of those plastic rotating containers where the lid fits all three sizes I have saved a lot of space and threw away most of my containers (I couldnt find the lids to them anyway..LOL). And I had already taken all the kitchen pans, baking dishes, etc that I don't use on a daily basis down to the basement. There was no sense having all that there now that I don't do such fancy entertaining and cooking anymore. 
Dan and Scott have been here all week. They are certainly growing up.
Sean is learning to respond and smile when you talk to him.

This is my herb garden. I was finally able to plant the herbs that I purchased a while ago.

The lupine are gorgeous this year.
These zinnias were just perfect for around my fountain.
I got a great buy on flowers at Walmart and brought home the hanging baskets of assorted flowers and was able to fill many pots and urns.
What do you notice that is missing the picture above? Yes, it's the three beautiful birch trees that have companioned the light pole for many years. Last year they started dying so this year Don cut them down. I was so sorry to see them go. I'll be looking for a shrub to put in their place. 
Aren't these bird plates absolutely darling? Linda brought them to me from California along with the lavendar small pitcher, the fleur-de-lis cookie cutter and the bar of verbena french soap. All my favorites. Thanks to the best sister ever. Love ya!
As you may have noticed I finally got the date stamp to work on my camera. Below are two pictures of the lupine that welcomed me home. 
These lantana I bought at Smith Mountain Lake. I just couldn't resist buying some flowers. I can't wait to get home and plant things.
On Friday Ryan and I took Sean to Jenny's school so that her parents and kids could see the baby.

This was funny. Outside the school there hangs an owl to scare away the birds. I guess the swallows didn't mind because they built their nest right on top of the owl. Can't fool those birds!

I can't believe how much Sean has grown in just two weeks. He's holding his head up now so he can sit on your lap.
He is such a good baby, never fusses except to tell you he's wet or hungry.
He smells so good after his bath.
There were pony rides, funnel cakes, wagons, tractor pulls and of course, strawberries.
