Gilbert Reservior

My friend Sandy and I had a little adventure every day we walk around the Marilla Reservior first thing in the morning.  Nearby is a road which leads to a larger resevior named Gilbert. Even though I have lived in Bradford all my life I have never been there.

It is at least three times bigger than Marilla. We walked down to the dam and crossed it.

In the center of the dam was a building with a plaque which stated that it had been built in 1913.

It was such a lovely day and a great discovery.

Ay home in the evening

How pleasant our evenings have been. The warm days fade in to warm nights and the courtyard turns into a fairyland.

I couldn’t get very good night pictures but these may give you the idea.

Early morning garden

Good morning. It is a glorious day out there. Here are a few shots of my flower gardens. In the above shot is the herb garden with time basil, Parsley, lavender, and thyme. I thought you might enjoy just a few more pictures too.

Deer

I came across this old picture and am posting it again. I love watching wildlife. This year I haven’t seen many deer around but we had bear tracks across our driveway last week.

At Stone Tower

This weekend .chris and Wendy came up for a visit and to get some more furniture from Wendy’s house in Port Allegany. She is hoping that she has an offer on it now. We spent a quiet weekend not leaving the house much. We did take a walk around Marilla and play cards. On .Saturday evening we rode to Allegany State Park and climbed up the stone tower to see the view.

Three water features

I love to sit on the porch swing and listen to the sound of splashing water. My outdoor areas have three water features

As you walk up to our back door you are greeted by the gurgling pineapple fountain.

Around the corner is the lion fountain.

And just a few steps away the water splashes down the slate stone into the pond.

They do not compete with one another but sing in beautiful harmony.

Foxgloves

The mystery plant finally bloomed and revealed itself to be....a foxglove. And what a foxglove it is. It is so high and has so many stalks that I was just amazed.

Aren’t they gorgeous?

Walking the dogs

Meet Andy Rooney, (the Schnauzer/poodle) and Maggie, (the greyhound). They belong to my friend Sandy. Every morning Sandy and I have been walking. It’s great to get out in the morning before it gets hot and walk about a mile. Two times a week we take her dogs with us. She was having trouble walking Maggie since she would pull and tug and managing two dogs was hard for her. Someone gave her a harness to try and once Maggie gets that harness on she is as tame as a mouse and walks without pulling. I walk Andy and he prances along so jauntily. I love walking him.
