DO YOU WATCH CSI?

I’m not a big fan of Crime Scene Investigations on tv but today I gained a new respect for the field when our Red Hat group visited the CSI house at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Our local campus has a premier program of forensics for it’s students. Only 15 students a year participate in the crime investigations that take place at this house which has been converted into an investigative lab. Students view staged crime scenes and gather evidence. They learn techniques to analyze this evidence to prove their cases. We got to hold an instrument that was state of the art in evidence gathering…a small telescope looking device which can see fingerprints on metal surfaces. (only $85,000). Actual crimes are duplicated and staged in the house. There are also outside crimes staged in the woods. We are lucky to have such an advanced program in our area. Students come from all over the country to take the program, only one of 6 in the Eastern United States.
