I've always used the expression "get out of Dodge but never exactly knew what it meant. So I googled it. What did we ever do without google?
get the hell out of Dodge
To leave somewhere immediately, to evacuate or scram.
"Get the hell out of Dodge" is a reference to Dodge City, Kansas, which was a favorite location for westerns in the early to mid 20th century. Most memorably, the phrase was made famous by the TV show "Gunsmoke," in which villians were often commanded to "get the hell out of Dodge." The phrase took on its current meaning in the 1960s and 70s when teenagers began to use it in its current form.
So yesterday since I was suffering with cabin fever Don and. I went to Erie for the day. We thought the weather would be ok and the roads dry but we ran into a snowstorm on the way up. We kept going and soon ran out of it and it ended up to be thirty nine degrees...which actually felt nice to us compared to what we had been experiencing in Bradford.
Since Don absolutely hates shopping I droped him off at the local casino and he played while I enjoyed going to all my favorite stores. My first stop was Hobby Lobby and I took my time wandering around ooking at all the spring pretties. The only thing I bought was a wooden intitial K to use on a wreath that I'm going to make. Next to Hoby Lobby was Burlilngton Coat Factory. I went wild at the beauty section and bought some body butter...
and some soap and lotion for the bathroom in my favorite scent lemon verbena.
Pier One was next. I love walking around Pier One. They have the most beautiful colorful items and there were lots of Spring things. I picked up two napkins and napkin rings to brighten my table.
I also picked up some different teas to try.
Getting in the spring mood I went to Macy's and bought a few tops for spring. It was really nice to get out and enjoy shoping and seeing pretty things. We ate at the casino buffet and then traveled back home. What a nice day.
Sounds like you had a very fun day in erie! I'm loving all of your pictures of the new kitchen..can't wait to come visit so we can see it all complete!
ReplyDeletethat's what i really call a day outta dodge!!! LOL
ReplyDeletewonderful!
and i know that saying very well. it's usually as a last straw. LOL. xo
-chuckle- hey Don, I don't like to wander and shop, either! I'm one to need something--look quickly for it--buy it if found--leave quickly, if not found--move on. ,-)
ReplyDeleteso happy that you got to ease your Cabin Fever. and here, we differ also. I'm happy to stay home. what I get tired of, is ice/snow/cold making me unable to go out, if I should want to. if that makes any sense.
I want to stay home. but I want to be able to go out, if I should want to. how is that for "confused" thinking?????
