It's good for the goose

All is well. There is a man In a nearby town who has a rescue center. We took baby Ponce there in the afternoon. He will keep it and raise it and then return it to the wild. Diane would have loved to keep it but it is illegal. But we know it is in a good place. We still can't figure out where it's mama could be with the rest of the babies. It is possible that a predator got them or maybe she moved them to another place. All's well that ends well

Last night we all went out to dinner at the Runway Cafe at our small local airport. The food there is delicious and I enjoyed their blue cheese chicken. Afterwards we took the sisters over to the Kinzua Bridge.

The Kinzua Viaduct, when first constructed in May 1882, was the highest and longest viaduct in the world, measuring 301 feet high and 2,053 feet long. The need to transport coal, oil and lumber across the Kinzua Gorge inspired General Thomas Kane, president of the New York, Lake Erie and Western Coal Company and Octave Chanute, Chief Engineer for the Erie Railroad to design a colossal viaduct.

In 2003 a large storm blew through the valley and winds from three different directions converged to rip the structure apart. With only a small part of the bridge remaining a skywalk was made so that we can still walk out on the bridge and appreciate the long vistas. It is a state park and there are picnic tables. Currently they are constructing a large visitor center.

They have made a skywalk at the end of the standing part of the bridge and another overlook. This is still an attraction for our area.

    bless that man.
    and
the bridge with the train on it scares the daylights out of me! i was ALWAYS afraid to go over railroad bridges like that on our train trips to new york.
at least they are making the damaged area pretty now for you it sounds. cleaning up that mess was quite the job!
