January 22, 1966-46 years ago Don and I walked down the aisle of the West Branch Methodist Church and declared out love.
We had met in high school and stayed together while Don spent four years in the Navy and I went to college.
Kay and Bill are still our two best friends after all these years. What a happy day it was. I still remember my mom’s cranberry velvet suit with the pink ruffled collar which matched the bridesmaids’ dresses.
It also was the night of a major snowstorm. When we went to the reception it was snowing huge flakes and when we came out there was deep snow on the ground.
It didn’t stop us from honeymooning at the Castle Motel in Olean. When we came out the next morning all you could see of the car was the doorhandles. There was snow from the ground up and the top down. Me kissing my dad goodbye. I remember this green tweed suit I wore on my honeymoon.
Now here we are many years later..still together and still in love.

What a wonderful blog you put together today!!!!! The pictures are amazing and must bring back happy memories. 46 years is literally a lifetime; can you imagine how long that must seem to some young people today who divorce so easily! You two are a testament to a marriage that works, and a marriage that you worked at to keep it strong.

Congratulations and best wishes. Beautiful bride and handsome groom. Are going away clothes a thing of the past? I too had a special outfit.
ReplyDeleteJohn had surgery (same day) in November. The two young nurses asked us how long we had been married. When I told them 42 years they were amazed. Both of them were divorced with live ins now.
As beautiful you were back then, still beautiful now:) Both you and Don are so combined that is a mixture of everything wonderful about two people who loved/loves each other. Wonderful pictures!! Thank you for sharing:) Happy, Happy "belated" Anniversary:)
ReplyDeleteLove to you both,
Linda
